Hampshire County Council embarked on a huge project to replace their existing radio-based call systems, which being no longer fit for purpose were upgraded to the Intercall Touch Series across their council run care homes.

Hampshire County Council embarked on a huge project to replace their existing radio-based call systems, which being no longer fit for purpose were upgraded to the Intercall Touch Series across their council run care homes.

 

Following a robust procurement process led by a team made up of David Wallis and Rob Mole of Saturn Sales & Services and Duncan Lade of Intercall, the Touch system was installed and piloted initially in one location before being successfully rolled out across all 26 council run homes.

 

The first implementation phase of the Touch Nurse Call System included care cards, which registered staff attendance at every room and colour touch screen display panels. Impressed with the smooth installation, ease of use, level of information and security the system provided, Hampshire have since commissioned a series of additional services, all of which have seamlessly integrated with the flexible, future-proof hard-wired system.

 

One such upgrade was the addition of access control Drug Safes in every room. Working closely with the Care Managers and listening to their specific requirements, Intercall and Saturn adapted the touch system to offer controlled, monitored access to individual Drug Safes. Staff care cards are used to open safes and log all access activity including the time, date and staff member.

 

A more recent update has been the installation of Safeguard Sensors to assist the care of residents with dementia. Positioned in the ceiling, the safeguard sensor monitors bed occupancy using thermal imaging detection, alerting staff to any out of bed movements, perfect for supporting residents who are prone to falling or wandering at night.  Anecdotal feedback to date is that injury through fall has been reduced by approximately 90% giving increased reassurance to both residents and their families.
