Premier Member - Eastbourne Borough Football Club

Eastbourne Borough FC, originally known as Langney Sports, evolved from humble beginnings in the Eastbourne & Hastings League to become a prominent force in Sussex football. After joining the Sussex County League in 1983, they quickly rose through the ranks, consistently finishing near the top of Division One. In 1999/00, under Garry Wilson and Nick Greenwood, the club won the Sussex County League and earned promotion to the Dr. Martens League. Meanwhile, they secured a permanent home at Priory Lane, thanks to council support and a £117,000 grant.

In 2002, they won their first Sussex Senior Cup and soon climbed to the Dr. Martens Premier Division. Their momentum continued, and by 2007/08, they were promoted to the Conference Premier. Their first season at this level was successful, with memorable victories over teams like Forest Green Rovers and Wrexham, securing a mid-table finish.

Despite facing challenges, including near relegation in 2009/10, the club survived. However, their third season in the Conference Premier proved too difficult, leading to relegation. Back in Conference South, they remained competitive but saw major changes, including the departure of long-serving managers Garry Wilson and Nick Greenwood.

The club continued to focus on building its infrastructure, including installing a 3G pitch and launching an academy. In 2017/18, they were named National League Community Club of the Year. After a series of managerial changes, Mark Beard was appointed in 2023 to transition the club to a full-time model.

As Eastbourne Borough FC looks to the future under new ownership and high expectations, their journey from parks football to a respected community club reflects their resilience and ambition.
