Wave Donates £3,000 In Grants To Support Community Sports

Wave Leisure Trust Limited (Wave) has announced the winners of this year's grant funding, which it provides to community projects.

The not-for-profit Trust and Social Enterprise, which runs nine leisure centres and Newhaven Fort across East Sussex, promotes health, wellbeing and active lifestyles, is helping to fund local sporting projects and activities.

Now in its 11th year, Wave's Community Fund provides grants of up to £500 to local community organisations which inspire and support the development of active lifestyles in the Lewes District area. Wave's Community Fund has an upper limit of £3,000 in total per annum and this year 10 different organisations have received funding.

The lucky recipients of Wave's 2018 Community Fund are:

 

  • Peacehaven Table Tennis Club
  • Up the Tempo Dance School
  • Denton & South Heighton JFC
  • Para Games
  • 1st Telscombe Cliffs Guides
  • Barefoot Boogaloo
  • Lewes Junior Badminton Club
  • Nippers
  • Down Syndrome Development Trust
  • Newhaven YFC

 

Kevin Calmiano, Finance Manager at Wave who distributes the Fund, said: "There are so many inspiring community groups in the area who want to organise activities that improve the health of local people, but finding funding to provide these services can be difficult.

 

"At Wave, we are proud to provide the financial support needed to help these groups to carry out their services, inspire active lifestyles and increase participation in sport."
